About
The greatest thing about the modern American woman is that she can make her own rules - so that's what I'm doing. My own rules of fashion, of parenting, of life: being an old-fashioned lady that's still oh-so-modern.

I'm your average American woman: house in the 'burbs, two little boys underfoot, standard entry-level office job. But underneath the mom/wife/housekeeper exterior lurks a romantic, who longs for Downton Abbey, pin curls, and circle skirts. A girl who loves to bake from scratch, cook comfort food, sew her own clothes, swoons at a British accent, wishes hats were still stylish for women, and is often convinced she was born in the wrong era.
But alas I'm a child of the 90s, one who must find her way in this topsy-turvy 21st century world. Where anything is possible, and everything is expected of you. Navigating that minefield of what it is to be a woman (or a mom) today is not easy, and on top of that I'm only 26 and still in that murky lost 20s period. What's a girl to do when she doesn't know where she belongs?
Here are my musings on all facets of life - on food, on sewing, on fashion, on books and movies, on parenting, on being a young(ish) adult in general. Is liking "vintage" anti-feminist? Can you be stylish without being "in style"? Comfort food vs health food, convenience vs homemade, natural vs processed? Can you love your kids and still dislike being a mom (short answer: yes)? Are books superior to film/TV, or does it all come down to well-executed art in any format? Is it weird or regressive to enjoy sewing? What do I think of the media and politics of today?
I'm also hoping to sprinkle in posts of recipes and sewing projects, plus my fashion style, as time permits. Not everything is philosophical, some things are just for fun!
